ABOUT POETIC JUSTICE

Poetic Justice is a knowledge commons for people who engage in creative, arts-based, collaborative, anti-oppressive, and social justice oriented research. It is curated by Nisha Sajnani, PhD.
On this site, you can read about research in various phases of development and at various stages of inquiry: project conception/ research design, literature review, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation, representation, and dissemination. You can also read about the ethics of arts based, social justice oriented research. In particular, writers for this site grapple with the ethics of relationship and trust building, ownership over the research process, developing the research agenda, and funding.
If you have a research project to add to this site, please send an image, a 500-1000 word (max) post, and up to 6 tag words to nsajnani@lesley.edu.
Welcome!

About Nisha Sajnani
Each year, I teach a course at NYU for MA and doctoral students on Arts Based Research and a course on Multiculturalism in Research for students in the PhD in Expressive Therapies at Lesley University. The questions students grapple with concern the intersections of art, metaphor, power, relationship, accountability, authority, and justice in research. This site is a way of expanding the conversations that we have in the classroom with other artists, scholars, and practitioners.
As for myself, I am particularly interested in research that draws on embodied, improvisational, fictional, and collaborative methodologies. You can read more about my research here and here.
